Little Lilipution Morsels - gone off by GEORDIEandVIRGINIA in diary Gullibles_Travels
Since our last diary entry we have been taking things very easy in this hot weather.

We moved house from Seminyak to Sanur, took a quick visit to the Jimbaryan beach and fish markets (dead quiet) and had a good wander through the resorts of Nusa Dua.

We are staying at the Swastika Bungalows on Sanur, which have nicer rooms than the last place, but you have to run in circles to get wet under the shower. Day 2 I asked to switch rooms and we now have a shower that you only have to duck and weave to get wet in.

Geordie met some Americans in the lobby as I ranted on the phone to my credit card company about them having useless service (long story) and we had a really nice dinner with them on Thursday night. They are on a 6 month round the world holiday! Just come from South America and heading to Africa!

If any of you are considering a trip to Bali most hotels are dropping their rates considerably!!
After visiting 3 resorts in Noosa Dua on a price checking and general nosy parker exercise we decided the last one to visit would be The Westin. Geordie was suffering from a head cold (nothing compared to what he was about to suffer from) and I had been dragging him around for a bit too long. As the concierge guy showed us from room to room, I was beginning to wonder why we had bothered coming to this place - the huge luxurious rooms were obviously way outside of our miniscule price range and this was confirmed when he informed me that the room rates were $220 US per night for the cheapest room.

As Geordie wilted on the couch behind me I asked him what would be the lowest price they would give if we stayed for more than one night. With a bit of whispering and conferring with other staff members he pushed over a piece of paper to me saying special rate: $85 US! Excellent!!! Birthday treat here we come!!! The place is divine. But we are going to get whacked with a huge food bill. The prices there are about 5 times as expensive as where we have been eating!!!

Well kids, I was just waiting for it to happen to me. Instead Geordie was the lucky recipient of the infamous Bali Belly. All I have had was his head cold on the Friday. So in between his toilet trips and vomiting I didn't get much sleep on Friday night.

Next morning he was still going for it from both ends, so we decided to get him to the medical center. He was looking rather pale and was starting to have delusions about sucking on ice through a straw. The staff at the medical center were great until they went to put the drip in. As they poked around inside him trying to find a vein, my knees went, the room started to spin and I found myself on a bed with a sweet hot cuppa tea under my nose and a packet of Oreos in my hand. Yum!! I've never been a tea drinker, but boy, this tea was good!!! I'm better with needles when they are going into me.

So three hours, three litres of fluid and a warm can of 'Sweat' (their version of Gatorade) later, the boy was back to making jokes (weak ones) - so it was discharge time. They let me keep the biscuits and an extra can of perspiration! So back home to bed.

Now it's the next day and he is much perkier, not to mention the fact that he is in the other corner happily playing away on his computer game (how did he manage to get that over here?) Day after tomorrow we are going to head up to Ubud and start to do some serious sightseeing.

See Ya
Gin
