15 Dec 2011 : Majuli - India Rhinos in the mist13 photos attached
Cherrapunjee left us with great memories, aching legs and a bit of a dilemma about how to get to our next destination, Kaziranga. There seemed to be absolutely no easy public transport options and so we ended up hiring a taxi which after an eight hour journey, dropped us off at the Bon Habi Resort in Kaziranga. We weren’t expecting much from the hotel as previous experience has taught us that hotels in National Parks in India are either really grim or incredibly expensive. ...More...

A 35 day trip to Ladakh in Northern India. We have 3 trekking trips booked with plenty of rest days in between. We will base ourselves in the capital - Leh which is a short plane ride from Delhi but it is at 3500m. So being short of breath will be a way of life for awhile!   Show Trekking_Ladakh

6 Sep 2006 : Tsomoriri and beyond - India Gasping for breath IV: Hardcore trekking12 photos attached
Well, we bought the sleeping bags to keep us snug down to minus 10 degrees and on this last trek we really tested them! On the morning of day five we woke just after sunrise to discover the outside of the tent frozen and the mercury reading minus 6 degrees!! This final trek - called a high altitude trek - was a real challenge taking us from Rumtse to Tsomoriri. Seven passes in 5 days - the highest being around 17,500 ft - never dipping below 14,000ft and one night camping just below 17,000 ft. ...More...

30 May 2005 : Snowy Mountains, NSW - Australia Mountains in Australia?!12 photos attached
It’s been a while since our last update, must be getting lazy! But, now that the UK is in post election delight (!!) its time for a short entry on our not so recent trip to the Snowy Mountains. I must admit to taking great delight in seeing Mr Blair being delivered a very bloody nose purely for his stance on Iraq and also on seeing the attached photo the day after the election, but that's another story... ...More...

We decided upon a year's honeymoon travelling mainly in South-East Asia. This consequently turned into an 18 month trip as we returned through Europe to the UK. We set up this site to record our adventures.   Show yearaway

28 Jun 2002 : Hull - United Kingdom Belgian beer, football and itchy feet 4 photos attached
Early one morning just as the sun was rising we donned our backpacks for the last time and disembarked from the ferry at Hull. This was to be our last journey on our yearaway. But, let me not go any further before I tell you about the trip across Western Europe that got us to this point.
From Prague we caught a train to Moenchengladbach in Germany where Sue’s brother, Gerry, and his family live. We spent our time there being bought back up-to-date with current culture by Sue’s nephews. ...More...
